Mamma was a good cook. I have often thought about how tired she must have been when we all sat down in the evening to eat.

"They're still at the hospital. C'mon and have something to eat. Don't worry, they'll be back soon." . But I'm not so sure.

Books were always my lifeline, my connection with humanity. I didn’t have access to many children’s books when I was growing up.
