A thoughtfully written collection of stories
"I couldn't put the book down. Cast by the Sea is an intriguing collection of short stories about a small town in Oregon. The author cleverly intertwines the stories to paint a complete picture of the inner workings of this tight-knit community, and all the colorful characters you might expect to run into in such a place. I particularly enjoyed the author's writing style, which exhibits echoes of America's greats. I was reminded of Steinbeck and Willa Cather in the reminiscence of an age of contemplation. This is a fabulous work of modern literature!"

A gem of a book
This beautifully written book will place you gently on a crag overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Behind you is the small fishing village of Bandon, Oregon. Theresa Verboort's book will take you back to the 50's when she was growing up. The people in this book seem so real. She tells their unique stories as she and her sister who are taking their mother's ashes back to their old hometown, discuss the people they recall. Included are heartfelt stories of her own large family who lived simply but lovingly on the outskirts of town. This book will have you laughing and crying. It's a gem."
